Blizzard and Everfor
What is Blizzard’s, what is ours, and how to have something taken down.
A fan site
- Everfor is made by fans of World of Warcraft: Forever. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.
- World of Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment are trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
What is Blizzard’s
- The game art, icons and maps, the names of places, people and things, and the spell, item and talent data all belong to Blizzard Entertainment. Game art, names and data © Blizzard Entertainment.
- We show them under the permission Blizzard gives fans in its Legal FAQ: for personal, non-commercial use, with Blizzard’s notices kept. That permission is Blizzard’s to withdraw, and if Blizzard asks, we take the material down.
- Blizzard is credited at the foot of every page. Its art and data are never sold and never sit behind Patron: everything that uses them is free to read. Patron buys profile cosmetics and support for the site, nothing of Blizzard’s.
- Nothing on Everfor comes from unreleased or encrypted game files.
- We never host or link game clients, patches, launchers, server files or private servers.
What is ours
- The site itself: its code, design, layout and Everfor’s own art and marks.
- What members write: posts, comments and guides belong to the people who wrote them. Community guides are shared under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, with the writer keeping the byline.
- Everfor’s own work on top of the game: counts, rankings, recommendations, summaries and the way the data is put together.
Other credits
- Database definitions come from WoWDBDefs, under CC BY-SA 4.0.
- Classic drop lists are used under the GNU GPL v3.
- Both are credited in the footer of every page.
- News summaries are written with Llama (Meta) on Cloudflare Workers AI. Built with Llama.
Taking something down
- Write to legal@everfor.gg with the page address (URL) of each thing you want removed and what you own or represent. Blizzard, an artist, a member or anyone else: the same address and the same answer.
- We acknowledge every letter within 24 hours.
- A named item comes down within hours of a valid request, and our reply lists exactly what came down.
- We would rather work it out together: we comply first and talk after. We never ignore a letter.
Copyright notices for member uploads
- Members can upload screenshots and avatars. If one of them is your work and you did not agree to it being here, send a notice under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our designated agent.
- A notice needs: your physical or electronic signature; the work you say is copied; the address (URL) of the upload on Everfor; your name, postal address, phone and email; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law; and a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the right or may act for the owner.
- We remove the upload and tell the member who posted it.
- A member who believes it was removed by mistake can send a counter-notice to the same address: their signature, the upload and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, their name, address and phone, and their consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for their address (or, outside the US, any court where Everfor can be found) and to accept legal papers from the person who sent the notice. We forward it to the person who sent the notice and put the upload back after 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they have gone to court.
- Accounts that keep uploading other people’s work after valid notices are closed.
- Designated agent: Everfor’s copyright agent, legal@everfor.gg. Registration with the US Copyright Office is in progress; once it is filed, the postal address goes here and the agent’s name is listed in the Office’s public directory. Until then, email reaches the same person.
Reaching Blizzard
- If Blizzard, or anyone acting for it, writes to us, we reply to whoever wrote, from the legal address.
- This page and legal@everfor.gg are the channel Everfor publishes. If you work for Blizzard and want to talk about anything here, that is the place: a person reads it every day.
